  • "On 7 June 1917 Morrison was wounded in action on the first day of the Battle of Messines, when 19 large mines were detonated under the German lines. There were many casualties, Morrision being one of them, with gunshot wounds to his spine, resulting in paraplegia." (Church, p.166)

    He was immediately transferred to No.1 NZGH, Brockenhurst and he died on 17 October.

    This was the second loss for the Morrison family. A younger brother James Henry Morrison, Gunner, 13/527, died on the 21 October 1916 (Church, p.166) AWMM
