  • Dear (Great) Uncle George, I don't think we ever met but your memory was kept alive by your nephews Russell, Brian (my father) and John Fitzsimmons who were the 3 sons of your brother William. Today we looked at the book, The Complete Works of Shakespeare, which you gave your youngest sister Molly, for Christmas in 1930. Could you have imagined then that 60 years later your great niece would use it while studying English Literature at university? Or that she would show it to her own 3 sons on ANZAC day 90 years later? It now has pride of place on the shelf in our hallway. Thank you for your gallant service to our country, and for your precious contribution to our rich family history. Love from your great niece, Elizabeth Hames xo
