Mr. Broderick Munro Wilson died at his residence, Nobs Dine, New Plymouth, early yesterday morning at the age of 33 years. Mr Wilson was the eldest son of Mr. Munro Wilson, and a great-grandson of Dr. Ford, who arrived in New Zealand in 1836 and was the first doctor to settle in the country. Mr. Wilson started his career in a bank at Stratford, but later commenced civil engineering, and became a cadet under Mr. E. W. M. Lysons at New Plymouth. Mr. Lysons later took him into partnership, the business being carried on until Mr. Wilson’s ill-health caused him to retire about a year ago. Mr. Wilson was a water-colour artist of ability and had had pictures hung in New Zealand centres. Competent critics considered that he had a great future in art. Another of his interests was astronomy, and he was observer at the New Plymouth Observatory. He served in the Great War and subsequently married a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Fookes. There is one daughter six years of age. (Stratford Evening Post, 26 Jan 1932) Public - Sandra - Researcher - 12 January 2019 - Papers Past
