  • Victor Murray was twice wounded in Palestine, dying of spinal wounds received in the battle for Amman Jordan, alongside Lance Corporal Richard Percy RENALL (killed in action) also of Kohekohe.

On 16 May 2020 I was entrusted with Victor Oswald MURRAY's 1914-1915 Star medal, given to me by a Pukekohe resident who had seen this Cenotaph record. The whereabouts of Victor Murray's engraved British War Medal and Victory Medal are unknown.

As grandson of Arthur Douglas from Kohekohe, who served in France and who surely knew Victor Murray, of similar age, I am interested in any information on Victor Murray, his relatives and any other Kohekohe soldiers.

    Kevin Everitt 9 June 2020.

    Report
  • Remembered by a descendant of a Kohekohe district farmer (Kevin Everitt, grandson of Lance Corporal Arthur Douglas 56258, of Kohekohe). Noted at Waiuku Memorial and on Waiuku and Te Toro Roll of Honour boards, then researched via Online Cenotaph and Archives NZ. You were not forgotten.
