  • Alfred was my paternal grandfather and born in Dunedin. I have recently discovered he was mistakenly registered as "Betteridge" at birth. His mother was Clara, father not named. Alfred had a twin sister Anne.

    Report
  • The fact is I have been unable to obtain any record of a birth certificate for my grandfather, Alfred Bevan Bettridge. He was born circa 1896 and died in 1967 at the age of 70. After the war, Alfred worked as a self-employed scrap metal dealer; he married my grandmother, Mona Ester Huddy. They had a large family of which my father, Maurice Victor Bettridge was the second son. All the remaining children were girls.
