  • He was the son of Roderick & Eva Cordelia MATHESON (nee Meiklejohn) from Leigh. They had four children and two sons enlisted with the NZEF – Duncan Keith (77468) and Ian Mieklejohn (71833).

    On the 2nd October 1920 he married Evelyn Gray Montgomery NESS in Edinburgh, Scotland. They divorced in 1937.

    In 1942, he married Annie Veronica DONAGHY in Auckland.
