  • He was the son of William & Catherine Martha VAILE (nee Barrett). They had eleven children – Arthur Edwin (b1877), Florence May (b1879), Irene Emmeline (b1881), Bernice Mabel (b1883), Catherine Josephine (b1884), William Ralph (b1886), James Ponsonby (b1888), Hector Owen (b1890), Gordon Eden (b1892), Eileen Winifred (b1894) and Harold Lartius (b1897).

    Two brothers enlisted in WW1 - William Ralph (3/2629) and Harold Lartius (68085).

A service will be held in Christ Church, Kamo Rd, Whangarei, at 1pm tomorrow (Wednesday), funeral leaving afterwards for Maunu Forest Lawn Cemetery.
