  • Son of Erueti Te Rangirunga and Ngapera Matene raised by Hakaraia Te Tiwha

    Husband of Molly Nuku Tarawhiti

    A highly skilled Rider and trainer with Horses won the Steer Riding

    Championship in New Zealand.

    Enlisted in Whanganui; attested in Palmerston North

    Returned to New Zealand 3 February 1945.

    After discharge he returned back to his farm on the Parapara ranges and named his farm ‘Cassino’ after Monte Casino

    He continued training horses and attended the NZ Rodeo Competitions and horse race meetings.

    He went to Patea and worked at the Patea Freezing Works. This was where he met Molly Nuku Tarawhiti in 1955.

    Finally he left Patea in 1962 and went to reside in Wellington, he was a

    member of the Wellington RSA

    Honoured in 2008 by Her Majesty the Queen

  • To the father and Dad that I never saw, though I was never given the chance to have met you, I will uphold your name and your memory as long as I live. I am your son and only surviving descendant. This is a special tribute for your sacrifice you made for our country and I acknowledge you for what you achieved you have not died in vain Dad neither have you been ever forgotten. Farewell and rest in peace always From your Son and Granddaughter Rangianewa and your Great granddaughter Aiomai.
