  • Hubert Baker was the husband of Te Roto Tangohau, they were married on his final leave by the bride's father Reverend Wi Tangohau at Tolaga Bay 5 October 1904

    They divorced in 1944, they had one child who died aged 1 year.

    George later married Charmaine Potaka at Hastings in 1952. Together they had 10 children, 7 boys and 3 girls.

    Three brothers served in WW2: Hubert George (George) Baker (25811), 28 Battalion; Howard Charles (Bill) Baker (12020) with the 6th Field Ambulance and Haare Baker (418225) with the Provost Company.

    Both Bill and George were on Crete. George was evacuated and Bill was captured.
