    • Ernest Ormrod was the son of Edwin and Emily Ormrod, of 35 Broughton St., South Dunedin, New Zealand. Native of Pendlebury, Lancs., England. Also served at Gallipoli. AWMM
    • Ernest Ormrod was the son of Edwin and Emily (née Greenhalgh). Edwin immigrated to New Zealand in 1913. Edwin's travelling companion was my maternal grandfather, John Unsworth. My grandfather's mother maiden name was Ormrod, so Edwin was John's uncle, John left the ship (ss Ballarat) at Adelaide while Edwin continued onto New Zealand. John had a job with the South Australian Railways. Once Edwin was settled he contacted Emily so that she bring the family (3 sons) to New Zealand. The family left England on 13/11/1913 and arrived in New Zealand in early 1914. The boys were Ernest b 1896, William b 1900 and Harry b 1902. The family settled in Dunedin. Ernest was employed as a bricklayer before he enlisted. His date of enlistment as 13/2/1915 and he embarked for Suez, Egypt on 13/6/1915, therefore his stay in New Zealand would have been only 18 months. Ernest was born at Pendlebury, Lancashire.
