  • Second-Lieutenant Ernest F. T. Beer who is reported wounded, is a former member of the Herald staff, having represented the paper in Wairoa. He is the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Beer, Tolaga Bay, and a grandson of Mrs. A. E. Beer, Gisborne. He enlisted in the early months of the war. and has been abroad since 1941, part of that tune having been spent in press work on behalf of the N.Z.E.F., He was married in Italy to Miss Dorothy Davys, Wairoa, a member of the W.A.A.C., their wedding being the first N.Z.E.F. ceremony of the kind celebrated on Italian soil. Mrs. Beer has now returned to New Zealand
