  • Today is a hundred years since my great uncle was killed in action at the Battle of Somme. He was aged 27. He was one of six brothers, five of whom gave service in World War One.Three of the brothers were killed in service. He was awarded the DCM for distinguished gallantry. I am very proud to remember him today.
