Alfred Eric Bishop
Alfred Eric Bishop was the son on Henry Thomas Bishop and Amy Sarah nee Evetts of Fitzroy, New Plymouth, Taranaki. Born 27 March 1895. The Bishop family were early settlers of New Plymouth arriving in February 1842 from England. He was my grandmothers brother. His death at 23 caused her a sadness she never forgot during her long life. His brother Andrew also served, departing with the main body in 1914. He survived.
Alfred is buried in the Gaza War Cemetery, Palestine, Plot XXXII, C.11.
He is also named on the Bell Block War Memorial, the Waitara War Memorial and on his parents headstone located at St Lukes Cemetery, Bell Block.
A much loved son and brother.
