  • He wahine toa and my grandmother, her life was shaped by her war experiences. She shared with her grand children the importance of being resourceful, respectful, kind as she witnessed too much sadness onboard and off the hospital ship that she conducted her service She was betrothed to Brendan Patrick O'Sullivan who also served in WW2 as an infantryman. They married after the war and had five children, and sixteen grandchildren. They lived their entire lives in South Canterbury farming and attending mass each Sunday. Their lives were simple and uncomplicated as they saw no necessity to bring anger into his domain, to this day I recall my Nana saying"Brenny and I have never had an fight as we saw plenty of it in wartime" Rest in Peace, and God Bless you both !
