  • Husband of Ana Hine I Ahuarangi Te Ata Iti Te Oparani Rangiriri Raihana (Known as Gin). They were married in 1949.

    Educated at Te Muriwai Native School before he attended Te Aute College.

    Long time member of Gisborne RSA

    Involved in kapa-haka, Māori education, and music.
    From 1968 - 1978 he was on the Mataura Borough Council, and was then appointed Justice of the Peace.

    Appointed in 2008 national president of 28 Maori Battalion Association

    In 2011 Nolan was made an officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to Māori.

    New Zealand Herald April 4, 2007 has published portrait.
