    Report
  • Frank ended WW2 as a private. He arrived in Italy as a reinforcement in Dec 1944. Late that month he saw some action at Forli Italy in operations around some Casa's (house's) on the front line. In Jan 1945 he was wounded in the thigh by rifle fire. While he was recovering the 28th Battalion engaged in the final battle of the war.

    Report
  • Thinking of your whanau uncle Frank. It is Saturday July the 4th, 2015, we buried your young brother George's wife last week, and I will try my hardest to whakawhanaungatanga auntie Noeleen and my cousins with all my heart. Arohamai - very few people know about your return as a 28 Maori Battalion soldier from the 2nd World War to the prestigious SAS. We're all super hypoactive, but the pakeha call it bipolar disorder these days. Merehora.
