  • Charles Abernethy was the son of Mr James and Mrs Margaret Abernethy, of Toiro, Balclutha, Dunedin.

    Private Abernethy was presumed killed in action on Dead Man's Ridge (Pope's Hill) in an attack on Baby 700 on 2 May 1915. He was reported missing between 2 and 24 May 1915
