Silver Star Citation: Rendered for gallantry in action, on the night of 18-19 March 1944, at Cassino, Italy. In preparation for an attack Private Taua, signals linesman for his unit, received instructions to establish a line communication with the right flank attacking company only if enemy fire permitted. Despite heavy shelling and intense machine gun fire, he decided to establish communication by line, and it was solely because of his bravery and determination that line communcation was effected. His courageous performance under enemy fire provided a vital contribution to the successful results of the operation. AWMM

  • Teenaa koutou,

My grandparents on Dad’s side is: Joyce KIHI/NOBLE & Te Rongopai (Sonny) MOKE-POUWHARE.

My nanny Joyce parents (my great grandparents) are: Paretaaheke NOBLE & Jim KIHI.

My partner is Riki RAMANUI. His koro Joe Hookari RAMANUI married Paretaua aka Tin. Both resting in Mangatangi. I’m assuming this is Mrs P.RAMANUI being referred to as his sister/NOK.

Paretaua (Tin) mother is Ihia NOBLE. Ihia and my great grandmother Paretaaheke are sisters.

My Dad Dennis MOKE-POUWHARE took me back to the urupaa in Huarau. He shared precious & beautiful childhood memories. I marvelled at the papakaainga and got me thinking about how fortunate it is to be going strong today. Aku mihi nunui ki ngaa Kaitiaki o te whenua raa.

Kia au te moe e Pa xx

    Ngaati Maahanga tuuturu!!
