    Mr Aker was captured near Sidi Rezegh and held prisoner for 1 week. While he was being marched to Tripoli they were shelled by Allied artillery and he managed to escape to Allied lines; he therefore was never officially a POW.

    Total service 4 years 269 days. Served overseas from 27 June 1941 to 18 September 1945. Served in New Zealand from 16 April 1941 to 26 June 1941 and 19 September 1945 to 20 December 1945.
