  • Cenotaph record initially prepared with the serviceman in 1999. Stalag Luft VI Heydekyug where Mr Brier was held from June 1943-November 1944 was located up near the Lithuanian border. Stalag 357 was near Fallingbostel.

    Member of the 'Goldfish Club'. On daylight patrol of Skagerrak, and the Norwegian Coast, at approximatley 1100 hours on 5th may 1943, and engine fire caused by enemy flak caused the crew of Hampden Torpedo Bomber X, part of the 489 Squadron to belly-flop into the ocean, west of Egersund, Norway. They spent about f to 5 hours in the dinghy becore being picked up Finnish boat, with a German Captain who were carrying of from Narvik and Breman, Norway (Goldfish Club). AWMM
