  • According to the Embarkation Rolls the company George Brown left with was the 20 Canterbury Battalion; however he refers to it as the 20 South Island Battalion.

    Brown was seriously wounded in the leg and captured at Maleme on 22 May 1941.

    19 January 2009

    He was taken from the camp at Lazarett Rottmunster VB to hospital at Nagold. He had a leg amputated in POW Hospital, Athens and was returned to Rottenmunster. From there he was transferred to Oflag IXAZ at Rottenburg and taken to hospital at Kloster Haina. Afterwards he went back to Oflag IXAZ but was returned to hospital once more at Kloster Haina.

    He was finally sent to Oflag IXAH the lower camp at Spangenburg. AWMM
