Enlisted in February in Territorials 5th Draft Special Reserve, serving 6 months continuous at Fort Dorset.
Embarkation 10 January 1942 was after 1 month's furlough in Fiji
Cenotaph record initially prepared with the serviceman in 1999. 15-23 December 1941. Two drafts (totalling 50 officers and 721 other ranks of 2 NZEF) of 2 Relief for 8 Brigade Group embarked at Auckland for Fiji, the first in Wahine and Matua on 15 December, and the second in Wahine on the 23rd and on 10 January 1942. B Section of B Force Expansion (83 officers and 1459 other ranks of 2 NZEF) embarked in Wahine, Monowai, Rangatira and Port Montreal at Auckland for Fiji. This section arrived in Fiji on 14 January. 28 September 1944. The 13th Reinforcements for 2 NZEF and men returning from furlough (106 officers and 2022 other ranks) embarked in Dunottar Castle at Wellington for the Middle East. They reached Port Tewfik on 5 November.
