    He graduated with the Flying Badge 30 November 1942. Final leave from 6 February 1943 to 5 March 1943 (date of embarkation) - "although the Flying Badge was officially awarded in November 1942, we of course 31, were not presented with it until the conclusion of our advanced training course, at Woodbourne on 5 February 1943 and were not accorded a passing out ceremony but were issued with flying badges and badges of rank from the stores." (Russell Clarke 2005)

    The last unit he served with was the 485 (RAF) NZ Spitfire Squadron
