      Polonia Restitution awarded by the Polish Government in Exile is recognised as a legitimate award bestowed to Captain Michael Subritzky-Countkusza served as part of the Polish Government in Exile. This service was done by Michael after he had retired from the New Zealand Armed Forces. There is no documents which ban recipients of the Polonia Restitution awarded by the Polish Government in Exile from wearing the Order. It has nothing to do with the collapse of the communism system in Poland. Michael is renowned for his war poetry and also he has many penned books. The decoration was again awarded to Michael by Republic of Boguslaw Nowak on ANZAC Day 2017, and Wellington based Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Wellington, His Excellency Zbigniew Gniatkowski.
