Father was E.C. Davis.

There were two other brothers in combat action between 1940-1945, one brother Bruce was in fighter aircraft in England and the other brother Edward was with Trevor in Egypt.

A fifth medal was awarded to Trevor by the Russians and received by him in March 1998 with an accompanying letter outlining his gallantry while serving as a seaman in the Merchant Navy on a Russian Convoy delivering food and armaments to Russian northern seaports. The medal itself is of solid gold and was issued in Russia on the 50th Anniversary of the Second World War.

He joined the Merchant Navy from Egypt in 1944.

7 April 1941 The 5th Reinforcements of 2 NZEF (222 officers and 6066 other ranks) embarked at Wellington for the Middle East in Mauretania and Nieuw Amsterdam.
