  • Brothers David Harrold Ennor (289356 1/7/83) and John Mitchell Ennor (46560) served in WW2.

    Served in many locations in New Zealand, the embarked with 1 year in Tonga and then to Middle East.

    When he first volunteered, he was posted to the NZ Scottish Regiment and regimental number was 1/7/83.

    Although in Embarkation Roll rank appears as T/Sgt, David Ennor believes his rank was in fact Corporal at the time of embarkation.

    Went to Tonga for 11 months with other NZ Officers and NCOs seconded to the 1st Battalion Tonga Defence Force. Returned to New Zealand on the American ship, 'David Shanks' in December 1943. Went to Middle East next year with 2NZEF, but was demoted, as were all servicemen in the same circumstances.
