      Son of the late J. F. B. and Florence H. Peacocke, of Remuera. Served in the Mounted Rifles at Gallipoli. AWMM
    • Mr H. J. Peacocke, of Te Karaka, has received advice that his cousin, Trooper Gerald L. Peacocke, was killed in action at the Dardanelles on August 7 last. Trooper Peacocke, who was 25 years of age. was well known in Gisborne. His parents reside in Australia, and when the war broke out he crossed the Tasman and enlisted with the Imperial Light Horse. Mr H. J. Peacocke has also been advised that his brother, Trooper Cyril T. Peacocke, has been wounded, and is now in hospital at Manchester, England.     The sad news has been received by Mr. H. J. Peacocke, of Te Karaka, that his brother. Bombardier Cyril .Peacocke, was killed in France on March 19th. BDR. Peacocke enlisted in Auckland with the main body, and was at the historic landing at Gallipoli. He was later sent to France, and was slightly Wounded about eighteen months ago. He was connected with sporting circles in Gisborne for a number of years and was .well-known in Gisborne and the surrounding district.
