    Was an Amateur boxer and boatie. Left NZ with first Air Force Aircrew Draft of 20 men. After being discharged on 28 January 1941 as unfit for Air Force, enlisted in Royal Navy in January/February 1941.

    The last Naval vessel he was on, and in fact was in charge of, was a 6 Mark 4 Tank Landing Craft.

    Joined RNZNVR on 15 September 1946 as a Temporary sub Lieutenant - was discharged on account of demobilisation from Philomel on 11 March 1947. AWMM
