  • Three siblings served in WW2 Ces (26181), Maurice (A/1850) and Vera (809603)

While serving with 2 Mobile Dental Unit in Greece, Jackman, along with the rest of the unit, were led straight into German hands by a military policeman directing traffic. It was later decided that the MP must have been a German in disguise. While the loss of the dental unit in Greece was a blow for the NZ troops still on active service, they were a boon to all those captured and shipped to POW camps, as many NZ soldiers had false teeth and were unable to eat the hard biscuits issued to them.

Retired and living in 2005, in Clearwater, Florida, USA AWMM
