  • Missen is quoted in the Auckland War Memorial Museum exhibition, 'War in the Pacific', 'Scars on the Heart'. 'I was in the Islands for about four years. I came back once when I had malaria. I didn't see a Japanese soldier all the time I was there. I heard plenty of shooting though, and I was wounded one time when the man behind me fired into the back of my leg!' AWMM
