Suffered a broken arm at Sidi Rezegh and was taken to an Italian hospital in Derna. An Italian doctor set the bones and he was transferred to Bari Hospital on the Hospital Ship Cecilla. From there transferred to Piacenza Hospital where his arm was rebroken and reset (with anaesthetic as they had none). After this he was moved to Campo 57 Udine. Returned to hospital at Altamura, then back to POW camp. AWMM
    • Notes should be amended to 'without anaesthetic ...' Public - Wayne Laurence - Child - 10 February 2022 - From oral family history. My father had told me about his POW life (albeit rather briefly) and it was also mentioned by an RSA representative at his funeral.
