    • Son of Clemen and Oline Pedersen, of Horsens, Denmark AWMM
    • Karl was born in Denmark on either the 6th or 8th February 1895 according to his service records, he was working as a milkman when he enlisted on 11th January 1916 with the 1st Battalion, Wellington Infantry Regiment. He embarked from Wellington on 1st May 1916, disembarking at Suez, Egypt on 9th June where they continued with training. He embarked for the United Kingdom on 26th July and disembarked at Southampton on 7th August and marched into the reserve group at Sling camp. After a brief stay in the United Kingdom he embarked for France on 20th August and on his arrival, he was attached to the base camp at Etaples. Karl joined the battalion in the field on 1st September where he remained fighting in the trenches till granted leave to the United Kingdom on 26th September 1917. On his return, he marched into the reinforcement camp at Morbecque, France on 1st October. He rejoined his unit in the field and was wounded in action on 5th June 1918 and was admitted into the 1st New Zealand Field Ambulance with shrapnel wounds to his chest arm and leg. He was transferred to the 29th Casualty Clearing Station where he died from these wounds on 8th June. Public - Kerry - Researcher - 3 August 2017 - Military Service Record
