  • Husband of Louisa, Father of Larry, Ron and Kevin.

Showler's previous military experience, as part of the Territorials, is noteworthy on account of the fact that there were only seven members in the Kaikohe unit, all of whom were privates.

Showler married his wife Louisa on 16 March 1940, during his final period of leave before being shipped overseas.

After WWII, Showler worked for the Public Trust Office, retiring on 18 May 1972.

On the Showlers' 60th wedding anniversary, they received congratulations from Queen Elizabeth II.

At the time of writing (2006) Showler was one of only five men still alive from the original 112 in his unit.
