  • Husband of Jean; father of Dennis, Trevor, Brian and Alan

Arrived home September 1944 after serving in Pacific - 35 Infantry Battalion being disbanded.

Was in camp in Papakura when a bloke got drunk and shot himself in the foot - he lived at the other end of our Dorm. and made a claim that someone had done it to him. The whole of the hut was held back for police to conduct interviews so missed joining the 15 Reinforcements - then came VE day followed by VJ & home I went!'

Started off in New Caledonia, then did manoeuvres in the New Hebrides (Vanuatu), then went to Guadacanal (approximately 3 months). From Guadacanal to Vella Lavella and then to Green Island, then came home.
