    Charles sailed for New Zealand from Durban on 11 April 1902

    He worked with the Railways in 1905 - 1910 where he was living in Kirikiriroa

    By 1914 he was living in Komakarau where he was a road foreman

    In 1922 he was living in Smith Street, Frankton working as a labourer, by 1925 he lived at main Street, Te Rapa, Hamilton; and by 1946 he lived at Diocesan School where he was a caretaker. Charles retired to Flat 11 Newall St, Hamilton until he died in 1959.

    Charles stayed in New Zealand during the Great War

    Increased age at attestation to 20 years 1 month
