  • Was attached to the Royal Greek Army 13 September 1942. Was promoted according to where he was sent.

    Arrived back in NZ on Tongariro.

    Victor Griffith's daughter writes: "Dad did not talk much about his time overseas. One thing he did tell us was that when he was hospitalised in Alexandria he could see the cemetery outside and he decided to take a walk to the large memorial stone when he was well enough. When he did he found his father's grave. His father had been injured at Gallipoli and died in this same hospital in Alexandria. Dad was able to take a photo of the grave to send home to his Mother."
