  • Daughter of Marion Violet Hirst and Frank Martin Hirst.

    Ethel Hirst married Dr. Herbert Leslie Gould (3/2858) in 1919, her husband served with the NZ Medical Corps. They met on the ship returning to New Zealand. They had two sons.

    Their eldest died suddenly, their second son William Herbert Gould, joined the RNZAF and was killed on a bombing raid in 1942.

    Brother and sister served in WW1: Ethel Marion Hirst and Ben Hirst (2/1793).
