  • When my father, Stanley Penny died, Family photos came to me. Included was a photo of Stanley aged 19 in his Army uniform. I knew it was not my father. I could not place him as I didn't know that my Grandfather, Cuthburt Penny was born in NZ and had siblings. In the last few months I have been researching my Grandfather who owned market gardens in Pukekohe, where I grew up. From there I found information about Stanley who was the younger brother of my Grandfather, and after who my father is named.
I also have the official photograph of Stanleys grave in Menin Rd Ypres.
For over 25 years I have had these items not knowing where they fitted in the family. I have been thrilled to finally place them.
I am finding that the information about the Penny family I was given when growing up, is taking on a new meaning.I can finally begin to understand them and more importantly to acknowledge them
