  • John Rendle was the son of Cecil Arthur and Christina Jane Mackay Rendle, Khandallah, Wellington.

    John Rendle served on the S.S. Komata which was attacked by a German raider near Nauru Island in December 1940. Rendle surived the sinking of his ship although the chief officer, Thomas .Allan Mack, and second officer, John Lloyd Hughes, were killed.

    Rendle was serving on the M.V. Domerail when he died in 1941. AWMM
