  • Jack Dore served with the 24 Battalion during the war and in the post war period was a captain of the senior team of the Cornwall Rugby Club. He is credited with having promoted the club's interests and steering it back to the forefront of rugby in Auckland.

    A commemorative plaque was erected by the Cornwall Rugby Club and the 24 New Zealand Infantry Battalion Association. It is now in the Rugby Club rooms, Puriri Drive, Epsom, Auckland. AWMM
