Bedding, a prisoner since being captured on Crete, convinced the Allies that all guns would be laid low and that there was no need to wreck the two historic towns. For that he won the undying gratitude of the people of Bad Soden and Ahl. (Wairarapa Times-Age Online, 1998) AWMM

  • Remembering the 75th anniversary Grandpa. It seems like a long time ago when I went up in to the olive groves behind Kastelli. It's been 15 years since I swam in the sea down at the beach, and went to Maleme, Suda bay, Canea, Iraklio and spent the week following in your footsteps. It's nice to remember that time today. RIP with Grandma. Never forgotten.
