7 October 1931 - DEATHS.
CATO. —On October 7, at her late residence, 45, St. Mary's Road, Ponsonby, Anne Merchant Chivers, widow of the late Charles Cato, in her ninety-first year. Private interment. A service will be held at Ponsonby Baptist Church to-morrow

OBITUARY.
MRS. ANNE M. C. CATO. A resident of Auckland for nearly 50 years, Mrs Anne M. C. Cato, of Ponsonby, died recently, aged 90 years. Born at Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, in 1840, she was married in London in 1865. With her husband and family of nine children she left England 20 years later for New Zealand, embarking on the Sorata for Australia and crossing from Melbourne to Wellington in the old Waihora. After a few weeks spent at Wellington, the family made their home in Ponsonby, which Mrs Cato saw grow from fields and waste land with a few scattered dwellings to the populous suburb of to-day. Mrs Cato recalled vividly incidents of the early settlement of Auckland, for she had a remarkable memory. She was able to recite at will long passages of verse, hymns and Scripture. She was a devoted member of the Ponsonby Baptist Church. Mrs Cato is survived by three sons, five daughters, 19 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

17 Aug 1895- CATO.—On August 15, Charles Cato, the beloved husband of A. M. C. Cato; aged 56 years. "And at eventide there shall be light." The funeral will leave his late residence, Norfolk street, Ponsonby, for the Symonds' street Cemetery, to-morrow (Sunday) at 3 p.m.

6 Sept 1895 - OBITUARY.
Mr Charles Cato, of Ponsonby Road, butcher, whose death has been somewhat sudden. He was seized with congestion of the lungs on Aug 9 at his place of business. It subsequently developed into pleurisy with other complications, and he died on the 15th of August. Mr Cato, who was well known and highly respected, leaves a widow and family to mourn their loss.
