    • Andrew Blackburn was the son of William and Margaret Blackburn, of Clarkville, New Zealand. AWMM
    • PRIVATE A. BLACKBURN. Private Andrew Blackburn has been reported killed in action somewhere in France. Private Blackburn was the fourth and youngest son by the first marriage, of Mr William Blackburn, of Akaroa Street, Kaiapoi, and was born at Clarkeville [sic] on May 16, 1895, being 21 years of age at the time of his death. He was educated at the Clarkeville School. He left New Zealand with the Sixth Reinforcement and saw six weeks' active service on Gallipoli before going to France. Private Blackburn was of a quiet and retiring disposition, and extremely well liked. He was a member of the Kaiapoi Foresters' Lodge, and also the local boating club and brass band.
