We regret to record the death of well-known resident of Woodstock in the person of Mr William Alfred Crase who passed away at Westland Hospital on Saturday evening after an illness lasting a considerable time. A native of Ross, he had for many years been engaged in the sawmilling industry. He was 66 years of age. He was a South African Veteran leaving with the 8th Contingent. Besides his wife he leaves a family of four, there being two daughters (Mesdames Willoughby of Woodstock and J O’Loughlin of Wellington) and two sons. Colin (who is prisoner of war in Germany) and Gordon (who is serving with forces in Middle East). Mrs H Growcott (Koiterangi) is a sister and Mr Edward Crase (Westport) a brother of the deceased. The funeral took place at Hokitika Cemetery this afternoon.

“In loving memory of William Alfred CRASE d 6 Nov 1943 age 66. And his beloved wife Rosina Charlotte d 20 Jan 1949 age 66.”
