  • John James MacDonald Dibble also served in WW1 for both New Zealand and Australia. Relatives have so far found no connection to the other DIBBLE boys listed with him on the NZ Boer War Memorial, but no doubt there is some distant cousinship somewhere.

  • I would like contact with other family members to keep these memories alive. I have also published a book - Lest we Forget. A ROLL CALL, of the ANZAC, BRITISH, CANADIAN and SOUTH AFRICAN HEROES in our family History BOOK 9. Over 210 Heroes and many with photos, details their CWGs in overseas countries. I encourage the following generations to follow their path and visit their graves. LEST WE FORGET.

  • My Great Uncle, John James MacDonald DIBBBLE was married twice. There are no surviving members of this line, but I have published the family history Grandma! Where did I come from? Book 5 and you can visit my WEBSITE:
His nephew[my father] Laurance John Dibble served in the Australian Army ww2 and after demob re-enlisted and served until 60 years of age. His great nephew [my brother] Robert James Claremont DIBBLE also followed into the ARMY and served 25 years., his great grand-nephew [our son] Malcolm Whitworth Bates also served for 25 years. So we are an army family for several generations. I am sorry we have no photos of John James MacDonald DIBBLE except one taken in old age with his brother.
