West Coast times 8 August 1942
We regret to record the death yesterday at Westland Hospital of an old and esteemed resident of Rimu in the person of Mr Enoch Growcott. The decease was a native of Ross and 68 years of age. He has followed minimum pursuits and has been a resident practically all his life, residing at Rimu for many years and rearing a large family. He leaves a widow and family of six daughters (Mrs O Wildbore of Rimu, Mrs J Adams of Westport, Mrs Nikatun of Auckland, Mrs A Craig of 3 Mile, Mrs A O’Brien of Hokitika and Miss Ellen Growcott of Rimu) three sons (Thomas of Rimu, William overseas on active service and John of Hokitika) sister (Mrs T Borkin of Upper Hutt and three brothers (Abe of New Plymouth, Henry of Hokitika and Thomas of Ruatapu). The wife and family will have the deep sympathy of many friends in their bereavement. AWMM
