  • Prior to the First World War, Jackson was managing Hislop's Waihi Sheep Station at Wairoa. In Early 1915, he proceeded to England and enlisted there. He served with the Officers' Training Corps, before gaining a commission with the Royal Devon Yeomanry. He then transferred to the 11th London Regiment, serving in France. He was then attached to the 10th Lonodn Regiment and served with them until the armistice.
