  • Son of Oswald and Florence Porritt, of Palmerston North.

"Educated at Huntly school before he came here in 1914, proved himself a most able and conscientious boy. He left to study medicine at Otago University, and after passing his first year examinations enlisted in the Medical Corps, though considerably under military age. He left New Zealand in December, 1918, as orderly to his uncle on the hospital ship Maheno, and contracted pneumonic influenza soon after his arrival in England, where he died at Walton-on-Thames Hospital, March 4th, 1919, only 19 years of age." (In Memoriam, 1914-1918 [Wanganui Collegiate School]) AWMM
