  • Son of Janet and Thomas Low

After his service with the New Zealand Mounted Rifles he sought employment in South Africa. He wrote complaining that whilst he was offered employment with the Transvaal Railways as an inspector he discovered, unfairly he believed, he had to return to New Zealand for discharge.

He later served 3 and half years with the South African Flying Corps. At the time of demobilisation, 1918 he offered his services to the New Zealand Flying Corps April 1918. As the New Zealand Division did not have Flying Corps it was suggested he offer his services to the Royal Flying Corps in England.

SA: TR, RH, CC, QSA medal, 1901 clasp. Relatives hyphenated the names to Ireland-Low. AWMM
