  • Original diary from 1st January 1899 - 32 December 1899, as well as three notebooks is held at the National Army Museum in Waiouru - 1987.1216.

    Transferred from NZ Militia to Reserve of Officers 20 September 1910. 3 years as a volunteer in Wellington Garrison Artillery. In First World War was an Artillery Instructor, was Commandant of Training Camp in UK, then Anti-aircraft command in Glasgow, Major and Acting Lt-Col. Served in France 1915-16.

    Army reservist - in 1940 he was keen for more military service but was turned down due to his age (63).
